It’s Wednesday again and that means our farm gate is open. Despite our cool and delayed farming start, we have deicious broad beans, peas, salad mix, lettuce, kale, radishes, garlic scapes, and more. 10 am to 6 pm at 9420 West Saanich Road.
We have 4 beautiful female nigerian dwarf baby goats for sale. They are just ready to go to new homes now. These little goats need a home with other companions..either in pairs or trios or as a pony/horse companion. Each doe is $200.00. Each wether (neutered male) is $175.00. In addition we have two does and two wethers who are just over a year old: I would recommend that these 4 be taken together as a little herd as they are very close and affectionate with people. I would be willing to sell the 4 baby does or the little yearling herd for $600.00 total if they are going to a loving home. In addition, prior to phoning, please make sure that you are zoned by your municipality to be able to have these goats on your property.
Its a dirty job but someone’s gotta do it! We are proceeding with our conversion of our market garden to a no till garden with an irrigation pond. Currently we are pondering the magnitude of creating hügelpaths between our garden beds while simultaneously planting, weeding and dealing with our livestock. So the best thing is to throw out this invitation. This Thursday and Friday we are having a GIANT GARDEN WORK BEE to complete what we can of this work. We need workers for those two days. Its heavy work but very rewarding… digging, puttng in branches, laying down cardboard and popping wood chips on top. This is PAID CONTRACT WORK. Hello everyone! Just a little update. We are up and running and want to remind you that our farm gate market is now open eery Wednesday from 10:30am to 6:00 pm. You can drive in our gate at 9420 West Saanich Road and park just to your right as you come in. We do take cash, debit and credit.

In other news we now have 3 gorgeous little Nigerian Dwarf goats (females) for sale. They are $400.00 each but if all three go to the same home, we will consider selling all three for $900.00. If you or any rurally zoned friends are interested please email us at annethfarm@gmail.com.

Tomorrow, Wednesday June 15th is our first regularly scheduled farm gate market. It will run every Wednesday for the season from 10:30 am to 6 pm. If you are craving fresh fresh greens after this long cold spring, look no further! Plus we have lovely herbs, preserves and more. We will increasingly be hosting our Cotswold wool products this summer as well. Batts for spinners and, later in the season, our gorgeous yarn. …..and a few other veggie starts too. Our tomato starts are vigourous and strong as they have to go out into the field. After this chilly spring its now time to plant tomatoes so come to our stand at 9420 West Saanich Road tomorrow, Wednesday June 8th to pick up some of our lovely heirlooms.
Tomorrow, May 14th is the last Anneth Winter Market. And given the weather, it is probably appropriate we still call it a Winter Market! We will have fresh salad greens, fresh Kale, Basil pots, herbs, dried beans and peppers, lamb, farm fresh eggs and preserves. And of course our faithful friends from Sarah’s Staples, Baloo Bakery and Raincoast woodturnings will be joining us.
I won’t lie to you; this has been a grim spring for farming. But you know what has not been damaged by the frost this morning (yes-this morning!)? Our community and our relationships. So even if you are chilly and wet, we have a roof over the market and warm hearts inside. Come join us. 10 am to 2 pm. 9420 West Saanich Road.
Each spring and summer we also offer what we like to call “wee goatie hour”. Come to the farm for the happiest of hours and sip on a glass of wine while you cuddle baby goats. Click on the video above to see for yourself!
Wee Goatie Hour bookings are 1 hour long from 5pm to 6 pm. Includes choice of sparkling fruit beverage (from our fruit of course) and red or white wine.
