Morning everyone - off we go to the North Saanich Farm Market. Why not just drop everything and come this morning? There is a hint of autumn in the air that is so enticing and energizing. We get asked a lot for thoughts on how to prepare or preserve our food and we love to answer those questions. The dinner above is based on our food and local partners’ products. Wouldn’t it be fun to end your day with a farmers market dinner?
On the plate above is our dinner from last night. it includes our green beans with our garlic http://www.annethfarm.com/heirloom-green-beans eggplant http://www.annethfarm.com/marinatedroastedeggplant , farmers sausage ( great choices are Red Barn Market or Berrymans), sauerkraut made from our own cabbage in Stan’s grandmother’s original crocks, topped with our own ricotta goat cheese (sadly not available for purchase - but salt spring cheese is a great substitute). Tomorrow night we are planning on mousakka using our favourite online recipe: https://www.mygreekdish.com/recipe/mousakas/ using our own ground lamb (available on request and at our winter markets) eggplant, eggs and tomato sauce, fresh herbs from our garden and lots of love.
There is nothing more satisfying than cooking local food. And the beauty of this is you can do this all winter just by freezing or preserving some of our produce. Our tomatoes, eggplant and beans are all available at bulk pricing right now. If you can’t make it to market - just go online to our store at https://anneth-farm.square.site/ and pick up most weekdays after 4pm. Or come to our live market on Wednesday at the farm gate : 9420 West Saanich Road, 10:30 am to 6 pm. Confused? Then just email us at annethfarm@gmail.com and we will help you!
So: GET IN THE CAR!!!!!!
PLEASE NOTE: WE WILL NOT BE AT THE NORTH SAANICH FARM MARKET ON SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 11TH AND OUR FARM GATE STAND WILL BE CLOSED WED SEPT 8TH.
