As our busiest season is winding down we are also down one set of hands. We really need help for approximately two days per week through October and November. I am sending this out to you, our loyal followers and clients in case you can send me a lead. The days we need most help are Friday and Saturday and the person must be very physically strong and fit as there is quite a bit of heavy work. If you do have a lead for me please email me at annethfarm@gmail.com. Thanks all!
SOLD OUT!!!!
Thank to your overwhelming enthusiasm for our sale today- we moved over 250 pounds of tomatoes! The sad news is that we have had to close our sale early as we are now sold out.
Hope to see you all at the North Saanich Farmers Market this Saturday!
Bargain Basement Prices on Gorgeous Heirloom Tomatoes! Time to get SAUCY!
I’m not kidding - these are the lowest prices you will get on heirloom tomatoes this year! And coincidentally they ARE currently in my basement! They were just picked today- and are simply gorgeous. All natural; we use no chemicals in our farming and follow organic practises. Why am I selling them for these prices? it is because we were away last week and the tomato plants went crazy - we have so many tomaotes we need your help to move them. So brace yourselves - for the next three days our tomatoes are on for half price:
1 pound for $2
10 pounds for $18
Half Bushel ( about 27 pounds) for $40
Bushel (about 54 pounds) for $75
There is a small catch …these prices are only in effect for the next three days

So we are closed next week which means that we will have no live market on Wednesday September 8th and we will not be at the North Saanich Farm Market on Saturday Sept 11th. HOWEVER please feel free to continue to make your bulk tomato orders. Caleb is at the farm ready to assemble them and they will be available for pickup after 4pm on Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday. If that does not work - email me at annethfarm@gmail.com.
We will be back in full force the following week.

Veggies are fresh natural and amazing.
That’s all!
Farmer's Market Dinner Time!
Morning everyone - off we go to the North Saanich Farm Market. Why not just drop everything and come this morning? There is a hint of autumn in the air that is so enticing and energizing. We get asked a lot for thoughts on how to prepare or preserve our food and we love to answer those questions. The dinner above is based on our food and local partners’ products. Wouldn’t it be fun to end your day with a farmers market dinner?
On the plate above is our dinner from last night. it includes our green beans with our garlic http://www.annethfarm.com/heirloom-green-beans eggplant http://www.annethfarm.com/marinatedroastedeggplant , farmers sausage ( great choices are Red Barn Market or Berrymans), sauerkraut made from our own cabbage in Stan’s grandmother’s original crocks, topped with our own ricotta goat cheese (sadly not available for purchase - but salt spring cheese is a great substitute). Tomorrow night we are planning on mousakka using our favourite online recipe: https://www.mygreekdish.com/recipe/mousakas/ using our own ground lamb (available on request and at our winter markets) eggplant, eggs and tomato sauce, fresh herbs from our garden and lots of love.
There is nothing more satisfying than cooking local food. And the beauty of this is you can do this all winter just by freezing or preserving some of our produce. Our tomatoes, eggplant and beans are all available at bulk pricing right now. If you can’t make it to market - just go online to our store at https://anneth-farm.square.site/ and pick up most weekdays after 4pm. Or come to our live market on Wednesday at the farm gate : 9420 West Saanich Road, 10:30 am to 6 pm. Confused? Then just email us at annethfarm@gmail.com and we will help you!
So: GET IN THE CAR!!!!!!
PLEASE NOTE: WE WILL NOT BE AT THE NORTH SAANICH FARM MARKET ON SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 11TH AND OUR FARM GATE STAND WILL BE CLOSED WED SEPT 8TH.
A Word About the Elegant Eggplant
You probably did not wake up this morning with eggplant on your mind but we sure did! These are the most beautiful eggplant we have ever produced. The heat this summer is good for something! We have so many in our field and so we are offering these at a great bulk price. 5 pounds are $20. 10 Pounds $38.00. Think of the Ratatouille you could make: https://cookieandkate.com/best-ratatouille-recipe/
or Baba Ganouche: https://cookieandkate.com/epic-baba-ganoush-recipe/
Or just freeze discs of eggplant for use all winter!
We will have these beauties at the North Saanich Farmers Market this morning. (Saturday Aug 21st 9:30 to 11:30 at 10990 W Saanich Rd, North Saanich )
Or order these on our online farm store: https://anneth-farm.square.site/ Or just email us.
Cantaloupe Conclusion. Bring on the Bulk Tomatoes!
All good things must come to an end and so this will be our last big harvest of Cantaloupe this week. Today will be your last chance to experience the ambrosia of vine ripened cantaloupe - we will have them at the stand today and we are open from 10:30 to 6:00 pm. But as one season ends, another begins, so lets start thinking about everything tomato. Sometimes standing in the sun in the middle of my tomato crop I feel like I have been transported to Tuscany. Now is the time to get some bulk tomoatoes. We have them on order at our online store at https://anneth-farm.square.site/
PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL OF TODAYS MARKET PROCEEDS WILL GO TO THE UNICEF VACCINATION FUND TO MAKE SURE THAT THOSE COUNTRIES AND COMMUNITIES THAT NEED VACCINES CAN HAVE FULL ACCESS. (see link below)

I also want to give a little call out to our wonderful grandson, Hector, who is possibly the most enthusiastic salesman we have ever had at the market stand. He will be here today again but sadly must return home this week. Thanks for all the amazing help Hector.
CANTALOUPE FRENZY!!!
THE TIP OF THE CANTALOUPE ICEBERG
Yup - It’s here. There is nothing like fresh cantaloupe. For those of you who think cantaloupe is an anemic little slice on the side of your plate at a local family restaurant, think again! Fresh farm vine ripened cantaloupe is ambrosia. This is one of our most popular crops and is here for a short time so it sells out fast; don’t delay picking up this once a year treat. We will be open tomorrow at our farm gate (as we are every Wednesday) from 10:30 am to 6 pm. This Saturday we will be at the North Saanich Farm Market- the ‘Little Market that Could” located at 10990 W Saanich Rd, North Saanich, BC V8L 5P6. 9:30am to 11:30 pm. There is coffee and goodies and live music and a real old time farmers market feel.
Our melons, like all our other produce, are grown naturally with with no pesticides or chemicals. Regular $1.75 per pound but if you are a restaurant or commercial market please order by e mailing us at annethfarm@gmailcom - bulk pricing available upon request. Chefs this is a once a year opportunity to produce something really amazing - have a look at a couple of our favourite recipes on our website:
http://www.annethfarm.com/annethcantaloupechutney
http://www.annethfarm.com/cantalouperedonionsalad
Of course we also have a cornucopia of other fresh natural produce including field heirloom tomatoes, anneth beans (romano type), blueberries, blackberries, figs, zucchini and pattipans, spaghetii squash, garlic, eggplant and so much more!
See you soon!
It Wednesday! And that means delicious fresh produce at Anneth Farm
Yup - Wednesday is the day when your dinner table can be overflowing with freshness. Heck you should all just arrange to entertain guests and have farm to table dinners on Wednesday. it can be a new tradition…Wonderful Whimsical Wednesday! Anyway - the stand is open from 10:30 to 6 today. We have cucumbers of all types (including many pickling cukes) , garlic, tomatoes, blueberries, spaghetti squash, beans, zucchini, pattipans, arugula, basil, eggplant and more.
And now - my confession- I have been doing a terrible job of updating the online store now that we are all out and about more again. However - I have just updated it and hope to stay on the straight and narrow! So if you all use it from time to time, it will keep me honest :) To get there just go to https://anneth-farm.square.site/. Order online, pay and pick up between 4 and 6 pm Monday to Thursday.
Happy meal planning!
